Eminent Domain, or the New American Stalinism.

There is, or rather was, one way to distinguish between living in freedom and living in tyranny. If all citizens are equal before the law, it's a free country. If they are not, it is not.

The supreme court ruled that people can have their property taken away and sold for profit. The city now says that since it won the case, the homeowners actually have been living on city property since 2000 when it first began condemnation procedures against them, so they must pay back rent. To the tune of hundreds of thousands of dollars.

What happened in the Supreme Court was that people were not equal before the law. Some people, property owners, were forced to give precedence to other people, who weren't the owners. These people could, of course, if so interested, have bought the property they wanted. But instead of following the market, they chose the other path. They took the matter before a judge, and the judge compared. The owners have less money, political clout and influence than the thieves. Thus, the property lawfully belongs to the thieves. And the owners owe rent on their own property, four or five years back, because, mind you, thats when the thieves decided they wouldn't mind other people's property.

Were those slums ? Was it a blighted area ? Are some people trying to milk the budget while resisting something that's really done in their best interest ? The neighborhood slated for destruction includes Victorian-era houses and some small businesses that have remained in a family for several generations. It's not really any worse off than most neighbourhoods across America. Every home, small business or church would produce more taxes as a shopping center or office building.

Writing in her dissent, Justice Sandra Day O'Connor said "Any property may now be taken for the benefit of another private party, but the fallout from this decision will not be random. The beneficiaries are likely to be those citizens with disproportionate influence and power in the political process, including large corporations and development firms.". She was joined in her opinion by Chief Justice William H. Rehnquist and Justices Antonin Scalia and Clarence Thomas.

The thieves' party in the Supreme Court, namely Asshole Anthony Kennedy, Asshole David H. Souter, Asshole Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Asshole Stephen G. Breyer and last but not least, Asshole John Paul Stevens hold that "The city has carefully formulated an economic development that it believes will provide appreciable benefits to the community, including -- but by no means limited to -- new jobs and increased tax revenue."

Consequently, many citizens and the Libertarian Party of New Hampshire (you recall, the live free or die state) have begun carefully formulating economic development plans to snatch their respective property. Asshole Souter's house is being targeted for building the Lost Liberty Hotel. Asshole Breyer has joined his high-court colleague David Souter in feeling the wrath of the public, specifically the Libertarian Party of New Hampshire, which wants the city of Plainfield, N.H., to seize Breyer's 167-acre vacation retreat by eminent domain and build monuments to the US and NH constitutions.

One does not see why stop there. I am sure the brains of the respective assholes could be seized by eminent domain, plasticated and placed on exhibit at the respective sites. After all, what is their right to their own brains when balanced against the superior public necessity of schoolchildren everywhere, curious to see just how the minds that try to bring tyranny to the US look.

Two likely things will emerge from all this. If the people living on the condemned lot have any balls, they will rise arms and shoot anyone trespassing. They certainly have a right to do so. Considering how they don't have much future to look forward to, being suddenly rendered homeless, one hopes they will do precisely that. Considering how people patrol the southern border to keep hungry Mexicans out, I'm sure there will be at least a few hands available to uphold constitutional rights.

Secondly, one would hope to see legal reform. Towns are not supposed to have any sort of legal rights whatsoever. Inasmuch as they are collections of homeowners, a majority no matter how large, elected or not, has no right to vote some of the homeowners out. The entire local and community standards as a basis of legislation has to go. It was thought to be beneficial, as a way to decentralize government. It didn't work. The result is that there are suddenly a lot more political weasels, working for a lot smaller stakes than there used to be. Consequently, there is nobody available to keep them in check, and they get away with virtually anything.

Knowing how slow and fearful you humans are, especially when it comes to doing something useful, I will take matters in my own hands, with this

Towns have no more right to pass rules, regulations, codes or any other form of legislation.
Any legislation currently existing passed by any other body than the state and federal assemblies is rendered void.
Any effects deriving from such legislation are not to be enforced.
Any person with material interest has a right to defend by the use of force his or her material interest against any such parties that may claim they are enforcing the above voided legislation.
No person is legally empowered to enforce any of the above voided legislation. Anyone attempting to do so is trespassing and should rightfully be shot on sight.
Go now, and spread the word of the Lord.
