LI : I protest the false dualism implied by that question. You are simply trying to propagate patriarchal dogma in a vain attempt to lock women into an essentially secondary and subservient role. The question is not if I'm a bitch as much as why the currently male-dominated culture has turned that term into a pejorative.
ME : Actually, the question is more why are you crazed ?
LI : A woman "touches herself" constantly without anyone being able to forbid her do so, for her sex is composed of two lips which embrace continually. Thus, with herself she is already two - but not divisible into ones - which stimulate each other.
ME : So essentially masturbation has rendered you mad ?
LI : Gender differences have an impact on sexuality and that if you use the penis as a metaphor for not only gender but sexuality as well; it figures sexuality as a oneness rather than a multiplicity because there is one sexual organ, the penis, there is one source of sexual pleasure, the penis, there is one notion of sexual desire, that of masculine desire.
ME : You don't make very much sense, you know ?
LI : A woman constantly retouches herself in conversation: one must listen to her differently in order to hear an "other meaning" which is constantly in the process of weaving itself, at the same time ceaselessly embracing words and yet casting them off to avoid becoming fixed, immobilized.
ME : That is a rather stupid strategy, isn't it ? Rather than expecting anyone who's trying to talk to you to take 20 years of zen Buddhism, you might just as well spend five weeks to learn English. On top of which, if you have nothing fixed to say, you should probably shut up.
LI : Whether or not we can in fact escape from the structuring imposed by language is one of the major questions facing feminist and non-feminist thinkers today.
ME : You want to escape from the structuring of language ?
LI : Yes.
ME : Why ?
LI : Because it's a boy's club.
ME : Language ?
LI : Yes.
ME : That might be the most idiotic thing I ever heard.
LI : Obviously language would not allow such dissent to be expressed intelligently.
ME : Oh, I see, it's out to get you, is it ? So how do we distinguish between sheer idiocy and "dissent" as you call it, wrongfully manifested as idiocy because the language intentionally corrupts it ?
LI : Essentially, you don't.
ME : There's no way to tell whether you are genuinely on to something or just sticking your head up your ass ?
LI : There can't be.
ME : How convenient. So let me get this straight, you think you have found a way to argue that nobody can find out if what you are saying is utter nonsense or not, and then try to behave as if it weren't in the hope that more and more people follow suit until your particular brand of nonsense becomes socially acceptable ?
LI : It's called feminism.
ME : So what's the point ?
LI : Look, I'm not bright, and I'm not particularly well read. More importantly, I'm too lazy to actually read a book and try to understand what it says. Besides books are boring, especially serious books. I can usually finish a mystery or a romance or something, but forget about an essay or the rest of the scholarly sort. So I was sitting in bed one evening touching myself when it all fell into place.
ME : Your genitals ?
LI : No, my theory of EVERYTHING.
ME : But you don't actually have a theory of anything at all.
LI : That's it ! There is no theory of everything. There is nothing to be understood. There is nothing to be learned. Gone are the days when I was sitting in the library of the Lacan Institute surrounded, cornered by millions of books that I could never grasp, not a single one of them. You hear ?! Not one ! But not anymore ! I am now liberated. I know better now. There's nothing in them books. They are just trappings, a male invention to oppress our superior femininity. The only purpose they serve is to diminish and chain us for not being male, just the same way that library made me feel back in the day.
ME : Are you sure it's actually directed at women and femininity, specifically, and not at stupid people in general ?
LI : Does it matter ? Besides, questions like that would take research to answer, and understanding, maybe even math. Obviously a typically male question.
ME : It's male because you can't just dream up an answer nobody can disprove ?
LI : Yes. It's oppressive.
ME : What's the point of non oppressive science then ? People just sit around all day and babble about things that nobody can verify one way or the other ?
LI : Yes ! And exchange socially meaningful feelings, bond, and masturbate.
ME : Sounds like a retarded hippy's paradise.
LI : It is.
ME : From what I recall Lacan thought you were an utter idiot.
LI : Yes, he was abusing me, they all did. They nearly got me to kill myself. Because they all hate women and femininity.
ME : Might be that you were his worst student ever.
LI : Yes, I probably was, because I wouldn't submit to male ideology in any form.
ME : Male ideology, you mean things like making sense, and verifiable statements and such ?
LI : For instance.
ME : You know, if anyone ever pays any attention to you, you might end up convincing people that women are in fact a sort of hairless monkeys, only good to sit around, masturbate and babble nonsense.
LI : That would be a clear example of the male dogma self perpetuating itself.
ME : It would, wouldn't it. You ever heard of physics ?
LI : Yes.
ME : Did you ever say E = mc ² is a sexed equation ?
LI : Yes. It is, because it favors the speed of light over other speeds that are a lot more important to us.
ME : But maybe they are not more important to mass and energy ?
LI : What do you mean ?
ME : I mean, the equation is about mass and energy, not about Luce Irigaray. Maybe the speed of light is more important for mass and energy than any other speed, even if it is not so for Luce Irigaray.
LI : That doesn't make any sense.
ME : You do understand there's no choice in the matter ? That's the formula because that's how energy, mass and the speed of light behave in reality. It's not a convention, and it's not something your pea sized brain can change.
LI : There is no reality, only the super structure generated by a semantic system.
ME : What does that mean ?
LI : It's deconstructivism.
ME : Are you sure it's not Brie cheese ?
LI : Yes. Brie cheese has a different tag on it.
ME : If someone replaced the tags while you were sleeping, would you submit an essay consisting of Brie cheese spread on paper ?
LI : Probably.
ME : But do you understand anything at all about deconstructivism ?
LI : It's cool.
ME : Why ?
LI : Because I have noticed that if you put the words "Brie Cheese" on a cover it will attract much worse reviews than if you put "Deconstructivist"
ME : But aren't you worried people might notice you actually don't have a clue what you're talking about ?
LI : No, because most of the people reviewing in my field don't have much more of a clue, and anyone else is bound to throw a fit, which obviously makes up for a debate, which is good because it draws attention to the plight of women in today's society.
ME : That plight being, essentially, that people who should be out digging ditches, male and female, somehow ended up teaching in Universities, in spite of the fact they don't have the intellectual capacity to follow a recipe book ?
LI : No, it's the male dogmatism and the way patriarchal values are enforced so as to keep women in an inferior and essentially subservient role.
ME : Wanna fuck ?
LI : Sure.
ME : Then get the hell out of here and find someone who can put up with you.
LI : That is a typical example of the... [fade out]
